As the name suggests, they are fixed to your teeth and cannot be removed (other than by a dentist). We use them as the preferred choice for more complex cases— and they’re more versatile than many expect.

What to Expect: Step by Step

2. Fitting — brackets are bonded to each tooth and connected with an archwire, usually completed in a single appointment.
3. Regular adjustments — you'll return every few weeks so we can tighten and adjust the wires as your teeth gradually move into position.
4. Retention — once treatment is complete, a retainer is provided to hold your new tooth positions in place.

Caring for Your Braces

Cleaning around brackets and wires takes a little more care than normal brushing — we'll show you techniques and tools (such as interdental brushes) to keep the area around each bracket plaque-free. It's best to avoid very hard, sticky or chewy foods that could dislodge a bracket, and to keep up with your regular hygiene visits throughout treatment to protect your gums.
